This popular Swabian specialty is commonly served as a side dish to accompany meat dishes, stews, or as a standalone dish with cheese, butter, or other savory toppings. Here's a basic recipe for homemade Spätzle:

Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
4 large eggs
1/2 cup milk or water
1/2 teaspoon salt
A pinch of nutmeg (optional)

Instructions:
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, eggs, milk (or water), salt, and nutmeg until it forms a smooth, thick batter.
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
Using a Spätzle maker, colander, or a spoon, push the dough through the holes directly into the boiling water.
